Day 4-5
When life gives you lemons, give up.
Unfortunately I had to drop out of the jam :(
Excuse time! My girlfriend needed her wisdom teeth taken out, my dog got sick and needed nursing, and then to add insult to injury my dog, while in his bed under my desk (thinking I could still do some work on the game) decided to chew through my index power cable.
Yeah yeah, the dog literally ate my homework.
It was at that point I gave in to the resistance the universe was giving me and decided to just focus on looking after my significant others.
The jam came to an end yesterday with 2 great games: Sticky Stick by Rahn, and Pond Scum from Wizard, and Craig.
Prizes were awarded (or allocated at least): An UWU cap. And UWU fidget spinner. And an UWU jelly beans.
These jelly beans in particular have been a bit of a personal problem for me, we didn’t get jelly beans for gam jam prizes they are actually from the boxes of them sitting in the office for promos at our booth at PAX in October! So come visit the team and say hi if you happen to be in Melbourne!
But what about Lens Runner…
I am not one to leave things half finished, and Ben put together such an amazing soundtrack, so the show must go on! I will wrap up the first level and get the game at least launched. Ben and I have had so much fun on this we’d definitely be keen to expand on the game if there is enough interest. So this weekend will be day 6 and 7 for the jam and hopefully we get the game launched on Monday. If you’re reading this in the future then I guess you know if that happened or not!
“But Oliver, how can you make a VR game without a VR headset?” I hear you ask. Well after some dodgy repair work and a bit of shrink tube, the index is back in service.
